This is definitely one of my favorite blog posts to write because I have been obsessed over the Clarisonic for a good six or more months now. When the first ever Clarisonic came out I didn't really pay attention cause there was no way I was going to spend about $300 on a face brush. However, when Clarisonic got the genius idea to create a smaller, travel friendly, and cheaper version it sparked my interest. But once again I couldn't fathom spending about $150 on a facial brush. Expensive expensive. When I had the opportunity to get the Clarisonic at a discounted price & try out both the Clarisonic Mia and Clarisonic Mia 2, I definitely jumped on the idea.
From my own experience it was definitely a hard decision between the Clarisonic Mia and Mia 2. So lets break it down:
Clarisonic Mia: IN LAVENDER, LIMITED EDITION: ISLAND CORAL & BLUE
+ Comes in 12 colors (sometimes more depending on when they release limited edition colors)
+ One speed
+ No timer
+ Uses the same brush heads as all the other Clarisonics
+ One year warranty
+ Magnetic charger
+ Completely waterproof
+ $119 (comes with a cleanser and charger)---will sometimes have holiday deals/sets
Clarisonic Mia 2: IN PEACOCK
+ Comes in 7 colors (sometimes more depending on when they release limited edition colors)
+ Two speeds (note: there is a normal and a low- the normal is the exact same speed as the mia)
+ Timer (beeps when you need to move to another area)
+ Uses the same brush head as all the other Clarisonics
+ Two year warranty
+ Magnetic charger
+ Plastic travel case
+ Completely waterproof
+ $149 (comes with cleanser, travel case and charger)---will sometimes have holiday deals/sets

First impression: I started off by using the clarisonic mia 2 since it basically had the clarisonic mia built in...it came with the sensitive brush head which I thought would be good for my skin because I don't like roughness on my face but I wouldnt exactly call my skin "sensitive" especially since i use the St. Ive's apricot scrub which if any of you use you know it had jagged exfoliates in it. But while using the sensitive brush head it felt like a rough brush was moving over my skin. So I think I might purchase the delicate brush head. But tried out the mia 2...skin is soft but nothing life changing YET...Tried out the different brush head speeds on the mia2 (normal and low) there isnt a huge difference i mean you can tell the brush is going a little slower but i dont know if its worth the extra money. In addition, the lower speed is considered for people with really sensitive skin but so is the delicate brush head. Also the timer is sometimes annoying because i tend to want to do my own thing such as if i think my chin needs more attention or whatever but with this timer it beeps and pauses.
Verdict: I have officially decided to stick with the Clarisonic Mia.
Here are my reasons:
1. Its cheaper (119 compared to 149--without tax)
2. The timer annoys me cause I want to focus on different areas longer and do my own thing
3. The speeds on the mia 2 (not a big difference or I think worth the extra money)
4. The clarisonic mia has better colors....at least for me ;)
5. The travel case is crappy plastic that I could break in a minute and it makes the tool more bulky...rather put it in a bag
Hope this helps with your decision, I will be putting updates as time goes on!

DeleteThanks so much for this comprehensive review...Buying my Mia today!
ReplyDeleteI loved my Mia2 and the results it gave - before it died 4 months out of warranty. Suddenly would not charge at all - just incessantly pulsate and triple-beep. I called Clarisonic to see if I needed a new charger. I was told the unit was "unrepairable" and that they couldn't do anything for me because it was out of warranty. I asked if all Mia2's only lasted 2 years and a few months, which is not a good product life for a $150 product. The rep said no, most last 3-5 years before they die permanently and that maybe I "got a bad one." I told her how upset I was at the product's performance and to find out that Clarisonic knows their product only last 3-5 years yet they sell them at such a high price point. The rep told me "yeah. sorry." No more Clarisonic for me, thanks.
